How does it work?
VOIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. It is a simple technology and what it means for you is that with VoIP
you can conduct a two way conversation with someone else using your existing broadband Internet Connection. This can
be done in exactly the same way you would make a call normally using a normal telephone or it can be done using a
program (MyPCPhone) installed on your computer.

VoIP allows you to make telephone calls using a computer network, over a data network like
the Internet. VoIP converts the voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that travels over the internet
then converts it back at the other end so you can speak to anyone with a regular phone number. When placing a VoIP call
using a phone with an adapter, you'll hear a dial tone and dial just as you always have. VoIP may also allow you to
make a call directly from a computer using a conventional telephone or a microphone.

The USB Phone
|
If you have a computer that is connected to your broadband/ADSL internet connection, you can
plug a USB handset into it and use this just like a regular real life telephone handset. You will have a dial tone just
as you always have.
